1. Who is responsible for your data

CalcBooth is a static website of free calculators. Full operator details are on our legal notice page.

2. Your calculator inputs

This is the point that matters most on a calculator site: the measurements, prices and options you enter into any tool are processed entirely inside your own browser. They are computed in JavaScript on your device. They are never transmitted to our servers, never stored by us, and never shared with a third party. Closing the tab discards them.

3. What is collected when you visit

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical access data for security and operational reasons — IP address, date and time, the file requested, HTTP status, referring URL, browser and operating system version. These logs exist to keep the site secure and available and to diagnose faults. They are kept for a short period and then deleted, and we make no attempt to combine them with other data or to identify you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; Art. 31(1) revFADP).

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-friendly and cookieless analytics tool, run on our own self-hosted server rather than a third-party analytics company. It counts aggregate page views, referrers and general device categories. It sets no cookie, builds no cross-site profile, uses no fingerprinting, and it does not track you across other websites. Because the instance is self-hosted, this traffic data stays with us and is not passed to an external analytics provider. We use it only to see which calculators are useful and where to improve. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding aggregate usage (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; Art. 31(1) revFADP).

Local storage

If you switch between light and dark mode, that single preference is saved in your browser's local storage under the key cb-theme. It stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

4. Cookies

CalcBooth itself sets no tracking cookies and needs no cookie consent banner for its own functionality. Where advertising is active, our advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device. You control these through your browser settings and through the opt-out links in section 5.

5. Advertising

CalcBooth currently runs no display advertising. No advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookies are set. If advertising is introduced later, this policy will be updated before it goes live; the description below sets out how it would work.

Were advertising to be enabled, it would be served through Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC and, for users in Europe, Google Ireland Limited. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies to serve ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to measure ad performance. Personalized advertising may draw on your prior visits to this and other websites.

You have direct control over this:

• Manage or switch off personalized ads at Google My Ad Center.
• Opt out of many participating vendors at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
• Read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and use its “do not track” or private browsing modes.

6. Affiliate links

Some pages contain affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon, The Home Depot and Lowe's, and to contractor marketplaces such as Angi, Modernize and Thumbtack. These links are labelled. When you click one you leave CalcBooth, and the destination site's own privacy policy applies to everything that happens next. Affiliate partners commonly set a cookie or use a tracking parameter so that a resulting purchase or quote request can be attributed to us.

If you submit a request for quotes on a contractor marketplace, that marketplace collects your details and shares them with contractors. We neither receive nor store those details. Read the partner's privacy policy before submitting a request. Full commercial context is in our affiliate disclosure.

7. Fonts and external resources

Typefaces are served from our own domain. The font files sit alongside the rest of the site, so rendering a page discloses your IP address to our host alone. Google Fonts was removed in September 2026 for exactly this reason.

Two scripts do load on every page, and both are named here rather than left for you to find in the source:

• Umami analytics, from analytics.balmac.ch — our own server, run by Honeygoat on infrastructure we control. It is cookieless and builds no cross-site profile. See section 3.
• Skimlinks, from s.skimresources.com — a third party. It checks outbound links against a list of merchants and adds affiliate tracking to the ones it recognises, so that a purchase can be attributed to us. Doing that means Skimlinks receives the page you are on and may set an identifier in your browser. It is a commercial relationship, and it is described in section 6 and in our affiliate disclosure. Links to standards bodies and authorities — the sources behind our methodology — are not merchants, so they stay untouched.

Browser extensions that block third-party scripts will block Skimlinks. Every calculator on this site keeps working when it does: the arithmetic runs entirely in your browser and depends on no external script.

8. Data we deliberately avoid

CalcBooth requires no account, no registration and no newsletter signup. We ask for no name, address, phone number or payment details, we operate no contact form that stores submissions, and we run no customer database. If you email us, we hold that message and your email address only for as long as it takes to answer you and to meet any retention obligation.

9. Selling and sharing

We do not sell your personal information for money. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, the terms “sell” and “share” are defined broadly, and serving personalized advertising through a third-party ad network can fall within “sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising”. Where personalized advertising is active on this Site, that may apply.

You can exercise your right to opt out of such sharing by switching off personalized ads in Google My Ad Center, by using the industry opt-outs in section 5, or by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in a supporting browser or extension, which we treat as a valid opt-out request. You may also write to info@calcbooth.com with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”.

We have no knowledge of selling or sharing the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.

10. Limiting the use of sensitive personal information

The CPRA separately gives California residents the right to limit the use of “sensitive personal information” — categories such as precise geolocation, government ID numbers, health data, or racial, religious or biometric information. CalcBooth does not request, collect or process any category of sensitive personal information from visitors, so this right is not currently applicable to your use of the Site. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and offer a way to limit that use here and via Google My Ad Center.

11. Your rights in the United States

Depending on your state of residence — California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and a growing number of others — you may have the right to:

• know what categories of personal information are collected, used, and disclosed, and for what purpose;
• request access to the specific pieces of personal information held about you;
• request correction of inaccurate personal information;
• request deletion of personal information;
• opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising;
• opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects;
• receive equal service and price when you exercise a privacy right (non-discrimination);
• appeal a refusal of a request, and to lodge a complaint with your state attorney general.

Because we hold almost no personal data about visitors, most access and deletion requests are quickly satisfied — often the honest answer is that we hold nothing about you at all. Send any request to info@calcbooth.com. We reply within 45 days and may need to ask for information to verify your request. An authorised agent may act for you with written proof of authority.

12. Your rights under GDPR and Swiss law

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time with effect for the future.

To exercise a right, write to info@calcbooth.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or the authority in your country of residence.

13. International transfers

Honeygoat GmbH is based in Switzerland and the Site is hosted in Europe. Our self-hosted Umami analytics stays on our own infrastructure. Our advertising and affiliate partners are largely US-based, so data those partners collect may be processed in the United States and other countries. Those transfers rest on the recipients' own safeguards, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses and their certification under the applicable Data Privacy Framework where available.

14. Children's privacy

CalcBooth is a general-audience website intended for adults planning home improvement projects. It is not directed to children under 13, and we knowingly collect no personal information from children under 13 as defined by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact info@calcbooth.com and we will delete it promptly.

15. Data retention

Server logs are retained briefly for security and diagnostics and then deleted. Aggregate analytics contain no personal data and are kept as statistics. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to satisfy statutory retention periods, then deleted.

16. Security

The Site is delivered exclusively over encrypted HTTPS connections. Because it is a static site that stores no user records, the attack surface for personal data is minimal by design. We keep our infrastructure and dependencies current. Please bear in mind that transmission over the internet can never be guaranteed to be completely secure.

17. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our services, partners or the applicable law change. The version on this page is the one in force, and the date below shows when it last changed. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
